About Us

Welcome to the Harlington Juniors Football Clubs website.

We are a grass routes football club based in Harlington, Bedfordshire. We are made up of a team of enthusiastic volunteers. We offer football for juniors up to Adults. We have been established since 1984. Although local historians, state there was a team formed in the village pre first world war.

We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for our players to play football. Our coaches are trained from FA Level 1 & 2, to Uefa C coaching qualifications. As a club, we are dedicated, to helping young players develop their football skills. We provide a range of different sessions for our players to take part in, including after school/work training, winter training on a 3g pitch under the lights, and Weekend matches and tournaments.

Our goal is to provide a fun and positive experience for all our players, as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle.

2022/23 has been a very succesful year for the Tons. Harlington u12's secured there third title in a row. The adults first team secured the Beds county division 2 championship, and are now promoted to division 1. Also our U10's won a tournement held in neighbouring village of Westoning. So the club is heading in the right direction.

We have been fortunate enough to have had a number of players been called up by premier league, Luton Town for trials. Some still there at their Academy and Pre academy.

Simon Whalley

Honourable lifetime Club V-President

Simon was involved with Harlington Lower school fc, before helping set up Harlington Juniors Fc. He's a true ambassador for the club. We feel it was a long time coming, being acknowledge for his long service.

Karlos Williams

Chairman - U13’s Manager/Coach

Karlos Williams holds a UEFA C coaching license, DBS checked, and has successfully passed the following FA courses. First aid, Safe guarding, Equality and Diversity, Paediatric life support, sudden cardiac arrest, talent identification, concussion guidelines.Safe guarding Children for Committee members.

Andrew Fildes

Andrew Fildes is the Manager for u15's & u18’s, Not only that, he is the Clubs Secretary and welfare officer. Andy holds a level 1 fa coaching badge, as well as First Aid, Welfare, DBS checked and safeguarding.

Pat Clarke

Manager/Coach u11's

Pat Clarke is the Manager/Coach of the u11's team. They will benefit from his wealth of experience and enthusiasm. Level 1 coach, Safeguarding, DBS.

Pearce Tomlinson

First Team Manager/Player, Coach

Pearce Tomlinson Manager/Coach. He is first aid trained and FA level 1. ready to lead the team.

Ben Whalley

U15's - U18’s Coach

Ben Whalley is the U15's - U18’s Coach, leading and developing our players to reach their full potential. holds level 1, first aid trained, level 3 paediatric first aid, designated safeguarding lead. Ben is a Great asset for the club.

Reserve Team Player/Coach

2023/24 will be Dans second season at Harlington, as reserve team manager. Dan also plays as a striker for the team

Eddie Prior

Reserve Team Secretary/Player

Eddie Prior is the Reserve Team Secretary/Player. As the secretary, Eddie manages the administrative tasks for the reserve team. communicating with team members and coaches. Eddie also plays as a winger for the reserves. With strong organisational skills and a passion for the sport, Eddie brings a valuable combination of administrative support and playing ability to the team.

Morgan McCarthy is our Reserve Team Coach, providing guidance and direction to the players.

Our very own Andy Fildes is running the 2024 London Marathon

Andy is raising funds to support the provision and development of football and community sports activities in the village of Harlington. Our teams are mixed and range from age U10s through to adult.

Much needed equipment

Harlington Juniors Football Club is a small community sports club that serves the village and local surrounds of Harlington, Bedfordshire. We are a small club that offers football for the local community for all ages from U10s upwards. With increasing costs making it harder than ever to keep the facilities up to an acceptable standard we are seeking to purchase our own tractor. This will enable us to save around £2000 a year on the cost of works to the grounds. We have obtained grant funding for £24,000 but need to raise the remaining 25% of £8,000 in order to purchase the equipment. This equipment will help maintain and improve the football pitches and give the current and future players a sustainable and safe environment to play in. As with many community organisations, we rely on the support of volunteers and income from fund raising activities. Can you help us with any donation to get us nearer the target? Congratulations, Harlington Juniors first team. For winning there division 2, Bedfordshire county football league. A great achievement for the club. Luton Town legend Mick Harford, came and spent an evening with the Harlington lads, and presented the first team with there championship winning trophy, and players medals. Harlington donated £200 to Mick's prostrate charity.

Congratulations also went to Harlington Juniors U12's. who also went on to win there third league title in a row. Captain Alfie Williams was on hand to receive the trophy from Mick Harford.

GRASSROOTS

Coaching isn’t just the hour at training, and the 70 minutes at a match. It’s the hour early arrival to the venue to walk the pitch to check it’s safe, litter pick, (weekly picking up dog 💩 because no one wants to slide in that!). It’s setting up the goals, untangling and setting up the respect barrier, planning positions and game play on the side line before any of the players have arrived. It’s dedication to 11-18 children that don’t belong to you, but who you support, care for and cheer for, as hard as your own. It’s tough, frustrating, soul destroying at times. But it is always outweighed by the successes, even when you are 3-0 down and it’s hammering down with rain. The child who you know is struggling who makes an amazing pass, it’s the unexpected goal and all of the kids pile on each other in celebration. It’s the near miss and the support of the other kids to say “it’s okay” to a soul detroyed player who missed. And do you know what, we don’t always get it right. But please understand, we try our best, in a role that is volunteered, which is often forgotten. Don’t underestimate the amount of time and dedication it takes to be a coach. That person turns up for your child every week regardless of what’s going on in their own lives and how busy they are. They give up their own time for them.
